Art Therapy Support Circle

Art Therapy Support Circle

We are preparing to launch our online Art Therapy Support Circle, facilitated by a licensed  psychotherapists, offering a trauma-informed and creativity-centered space for women who  have recently been forced to migrate from Türkiye. This circle is designed for participants who  wish to explore their emotional experiences through artistic expression, creative practices, and  reflective dialogue in a safe and supportive environment.

This program recognizes art as a meaningful pathway to emotional regulation, storytelling,  memory processing, identity reconstruction, and personal empowerment. No artistic experience  or talent is required — the focus is on expression, not performance; process, not product.

⸻

Program Approach and Structure

The circle will be held online, allowing participants to join privately from wherever they currently  live. Guided by mental health professionals, sessions will include creative exercises, guided  visualization, reflective sharing, and grounding techniques, while respecting each participant’s  emotional boundaries and comfort level.

Art modalities may include gentle use of color, imagery, symbolism, poetry, collage, metaphor  work, or simple body–mind creative practices. Participants will be welcome to share only what

feels safe and meaningful to them.

Possible focus themes include:

  • Art as a tool for emotional expression and release
  • Identity, loss, belonging, and transition through symbolic imagery
  • Reconnecting with inner resources and strengths
  • Processing migration-related emotions through metaphor and creativity • Embodied awareness and sensory grounding
  • Creative self-care and imagination-led resilience

Throughout the circle, the environment will remain non-judgmental, confidential, and  encouraging, prioritizing emotional safety, consent, and compassion.

Expected Support and Benefits

By participating in the Art Therapy Support Circle, women are expected to gain:

  • A creative, accessible, and gentle channel for emotional expression
  • Greater awareness of inner narratives, memories, and feelings
  • A supportive online community with shared migration experiences
  • Practical grounding and self-regulation tools
  • Reconnection with imagination, play, and personal meaning
  • Increased sense of resilience, agency, and inner stability

This initiative reflects our commitment to healing-centered, trauma-informed, and creativity based support for forcibly displaced women from Türkiye. Even across physical distances, art  can become a bridge — connecting inner worlds, restoring hope, and nurturing a sense of  shared humanity.
